Over the past year of managing Fiber Mountain’s social media accounts, I have built up a routine of curating industry articles that are of interest to our customers and partners, ranging from data center stories, to virtualization stories, to new developments in the technology underlying our networks. These posts have been popular, but the nature of social media also means that they’re ephemeral and easy to miss.
In the interest of sharing the most interesting “News of the Week” with people who don’t necessarily follow social media, this week I’m starting a new routine of sharing the top 3-5 articles of the week all in one place on the blog.
Data Center Knowledge | Yevgeniy Sverdlik discusses the release of Facebook’s second Wedge switch and the advantages of applying a philosophy of disaggregation to networking.
(Full disclosure: Fiber Mountain sponsors Transforming Network Infrastructure, which is a TMCNet-managed community. I may be a bit biased, but they’re also a great resource for keeping up with industry news, so you’ll usually see an article or two from them each week.)
Transforming Network Infrastructure | Frank Griffin writes about the ways in which virtualization is changing how companies deploy and manage their IT infrastructure, discussing data from Emerson Network Power and IDC with Actifio Founder and CEO Ash Ashutosh.
Justmeans | RP Siegel writes about the huge impact that improving energy efficiency in data centers can have, both on the bottom line and on the environment, and some of the approaches that are easiest to start implementing.
I hope you enjoyed my favorite articles of the week! Please leave a comment to let me know what you’d like to see more of – and to share any of your favorite articles that I might have missed!
